Physical Education (PE)

INTENT

The intent of teaching Physical Education at Brookmead School is to give children the tools and understanding required to make a positive impact on their own physical health and well-being, in school and outside of school.

IMPLEMENTATION

We want all children to experience a wide variety of sports and physical skills which will enhance life-long fitness and life choices. PE at Brookmead School challenges and promotes self-esteem through the development of physical confidence and problem solving. It teaches children to cope with both success and failure in competitive, individual and team based physical activities. Dance allows children to explore their creativity, personal and spiritual identity

The PE and Sports Premium funding we receive, enables us to upskill staff, ensuring excellent quality in the delivery of the teaching required in PE.  We  also use this to enrich our learners' experiences through extra curricular sports activities and opportunities to compete against local schools through our membership of the Buckingham and Mandeville Sports Partnership, all of which complement the curriculum we deliver (see Sports Premium report for further information).

'Real PE' is a layered and progressive approach to the learning and teaching of physical education and fulfils the intention of our curriculum through an expert led approach to teaching the skills required in physical education and sport.
